Out of order during `Telekuis'

On Aug. 24, Wednesday evening, a private television station
which was celebrating its fifth anniversary was airing a quiz
program titled "Knowing Our Country," promising most attractive
prizes. Viewers who would like to answer the questions posed
could dial a number which was announced by the station and the
first caller giving the right answer would win a certain sum of
money. That night the prizes ranged from Rp 3 million to Rp 6
million.

However, imagine our disappointment when we lifted our
telephone handset and found it totally silent, though it worked
again after the program was over. This has also happened at other
times, always when the Telekuis program was on the air. The same
happened to our neighbors and acquaintances in the Depok area.

Perhaps someone who knows the procedures and is acquainted
with the telecom business wanted to increase the chance of
winning the prize for himself by eliminating that of others in
the Depok area and perhaps also elsewhere.

As a PT Telkom subscriber who faithfully and punctually pays
his dues I feel that my rights have been violated and hope that
there will be no recurrence of this in the future.
