First, I would like to convey my deepest condolences to parents of the six Trisakti University students who died during the students' demonstration recently. I am deeply concerned over the tragedy. I wish to call on the rest of the students to learn a lesson from the incident and to continue their struggle for reforms.

Let there be no more victims. It's true that there is a dear cost for every struggle, but no sacrifice should be made unnecessarily.

You students are labeled mahasiswa. You should know that maha means great. So every action you are involved in must be based on the power of your intellect and brains, and not on your muscles. You will be the successors of the present generation. You should be ever vigilant against destructive issues under the pretext of reforms and on behalf of humanitarian purposes.

The country and all people are always on your side.
