OUB resumes RI operations

SINGAPORE (Dow Jones): United Overseas Bank Ltd. (UOB), one of
Singapore's big four banks, said yesterday it has reopened its
branches in Bandung, Surabaya and Batam.

However, the Jakarta branch remains closed. It "will open
again when Bank Indonesia requires us to do so," the bank said in
a short statement.

United Overseas Bank Bali is the Indonesian operation of the
Singapore bank and was shut since last week as rioting spread
throughout the country.
