Pangkalpinang (ANTARA) - Deputy Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections, Otto Hasibuan, has called on the public to trust and unite in tackling the impacts of global economic uncertainty.

“We must stand united and trust one another to effectively address the challenges we currently face,” said Otto Hasibuan while attending the National Seminar at the University of Bangka Belitung (UBB) in Balun Ijuk, Bangka Regency, on Sunday.

He stated that the global economy is under pressure due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, which are affecting economies worldwide.

According to him, trust between the public and government is a crucial asset in tackling these challenges.

“The public must trust the government, and the government must also trust the public to effectively resolve issues,” he added.

He noted that the seminar demonstrated students’ concern for improving human capital and regional development issues.

“Students raised critical questions on enhancing education quality, natural resource management, and economic issues stemming from global economic pressures,” he said.

Meanwhile, UBB Vice Rector I Devi Valeriani said Otto Hasibuan’s visit and accompanying delegation provided motivation and insights to students through the university’s public lecture.

“Academics play a vital role in strengthening the public’s skills and competencies in managing natural resources,” she said.

She noted UBB has six faculties, with the Law program being one of the most popular.

“UBB currently has 10,054 students and is in the process of enrolling new students,” Devi said.
