The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) seized cash during a sting operation that arrested Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others.

“Evidence secured in this sting operation includes cash,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the Red and White Building of the KPK in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March.

Budi stated that the money seized by the KPK was in the form of rupiah. However, he was unable to provide specific details as it is still being counted.

“As for the amount, we will update you later. This is still in progress,” he said.

Under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 1 × 24 hours to determine the status of those arrested in the sting operation, including the Cilacap Regent, who is a regional head in Central Java Province.

This marks the ninth sting operation conducted by the KPK in 2026. Previous operations included arrests on 9-10 January targeting eight individuals involved in alleged bribery in tax examinations at the North Jakarta Tax Service Office of the Directorate General of Taxes, Ministry of Finance, during the 2021-2026 period.

The second operation on 19 January 2026 resulted in the arrest of Madiun Mayor Maidi, announced on 20 January as a suspect in alleged corruption through extortion linked to project contracts and corporate social responsibility funds in Madiun City, East Java.

The fourth operation on 4 February 2026 targeted the Mid-Level Tax Service Office in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, focusing on alleged irregularities in tax restitution processes.

On 4 February 2026, the KPK announced a fifth operation involving alleged importation of counterfeit goods, with arrests including former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Rizal, who was serving as Head of the West Sumatra Regional Customs Office.

The sixth operation, announced on 5 February 2026, targeted alleged corruption in land dispute handling involving 6,500 square metres at the Depok District Court, West Java. The KPK named the Chief of Depok District Court I Wayan Eka Mariarta, Vice Chief Bambang Setyawan, and the Director of PT Karabha Digdaya, a Ministry of Finance subsidiary, as suspects.

The seventh operation, announced on 3 March 2026 during Ramadan, resulted in Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq being named as the sole suspect in alleged corruption related to outsourcing service procurement and other acquisitions in Pekalongan Regency, Central Java, for the 2023-2026 budget years.

The eighth operation, also during Ramadan, saw the KPK on 10 March 2026 arrest and name Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari as a suspect in alleged bribery related to projects in Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu, during the 2025-2026 budget years.

The ninth operation on 13 March 2026, during Ramadan, involved the arrest of Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others over alleged receipt of bribes related to projects under Cilacap Regency administration in Central Java. The alleged misconduct is estimated to have caused state losses of Rp622 billion, with connections to hajj quota irregularities. Those arrested are currently undergoing intensive questioning in Cilacap.
