OT Peduli humanitarian arm distributes logistics aid for NTT earthquake victims

The fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company OT Peduli has distributed logistics aid to meet the basic needs of residents affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Aid from the humanitarian line of OT Group arrived at the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) headquarters in Sikka Regency, Maumere, on Sunday (16/8) at around 04.00 WITA for subsequent distribution to evacuation sites in Nagekeo.

Director & COO of OT Group, Donny, said the aid is prioritised for around 2,000 residents who have been displaced and are in need of food, beverages, and personal hygiene supplies.

“OT Peduli’s humanitarian aid for the residents of Mbay, Nagekeo, has arrived at PMI Sikka Regency for immediate distribution. The logistics we sent focus on ready-to-eat staple needs and personal hygiene fulfilment,” said Donny in a written statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

He explained that the aid consists of food and beverage products including Tango, Crystalin, and Teh Gelas, as well as personal hygiene supplies in the form of Formula toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Donny said the aid will be distributed to a number of main evacuation posts on Sunday and Monday so that it can be received promptly by affected residents.

“We will distribute it directly today and tomorrow to the main evacuation posts so that its benefits can be immediately felt by our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster on the ground,” he said.

A representative of PMI Sikka Regency Maumere, Irman, appreciated the aid and said that food, beverages, and hygiene supplies are essential needs for residents in evacuation shelters.

PMI Sikka Regency volunteers also oversaw the distribution process to ensure the aid can be distributed evenly to posts in need.

“We appreciate and welcome the concern shown by OT Peduli. The supply of food, beverages, and bathing supplies such as toothbrushes and toothpaste is greatly needed by thousands of residents in evacuation shelters,” said Irman.

As is known, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake shook the Nagekeo region on Saturday (15/8) and caused dozens of residents to lose their lives as well as damage to a number of houses.

Humanitarian aid from various parties continues to be distributed to meet the needs of displaced residents and support post-disaster handling.
