OSO Pays Condolences, Recalls Long Friendship with Ryamizard Before Military Career

JAKARTA - Oesman Sapta Odang (OSO), Chairman of Hanura Party, paid condolences at the family home of the late Ryamizard Ryacudu in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday (31 May 2026). OSO revealed their relationship had been longstanding, even before Ryamizard began his military career. ‘I knew him from his youth, even before he joined the military. In Pontianak, back when he wasn’t yet a soldier, he was already wearing camouflage uniform and carrying weapons,’ OSO said. OSO described Ryamizard as a brave individual. ‘I was surprised because I had just returned from Kalimantan—I always spend Eid al-Adha in my hometown there. Then yesterday afternoon, I was inaugurating Gebu Minang in West Java. When I heard the news, I immediately headed here from Bandung,’ he explained. To OSO, the late Ryamizard was a loyal friend. Though not someone who easily befriended others, Ryamizard was known for his strong loyalty in friendships.
