Jakarta – Hanura Party Chairman Oesman Sapta Odang, commonly known as Oso, expressed profound grief over the passing of Indonesia’s 6th Vice President Try Sutrisno, whom he regarded as the finest vice president the nation has ever had.

Oso conveyed his respects at Sutrisno’s residence in Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026. “In my view, the finest, most distinguished and courageous vice president in articulating our struggle for the Republic of Indonesia,” Oso stated, as reported by Kompas TV.

According to Oso, Indonesia has lost a remarkable statesman who consistently championed the nation’s interests. “I believe we have suffered a great loss. No matter how dire the circumstances, he always expressed his wishes as a child of this nation, never causing harm to the nation,” Oso remarked.

The former Regional Representative Council chairman also recalled his final conversation with Sutrisno, which took place during a visit to the late Hamzah Haz. During that occasion, Oso and Sutrisno sat together and conversed. “Our last communication was when we visited the late Hamzah Haz together. We sat beside one another and shared stories,” Oso recounted.

Sutrisno passed away on Monday, 2 March 2026 at the Armed Forces Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto in Jakarta. The news was confirmed by former RSPAD Commander Brigadier General (Retired) Albertus Budi Sulistya.

According to arrangements, Sutrisno’s body will be laid in state for prayers at the Sunda Kelapa Mosque and subsequently buried at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery later the same day.
