Osaka teenagers to study here
SURABAYA: Ten teenagers and five teachers from the prefecture
of Osaka, Japan, will soon get a few days' taste of what it's
like to study in local junior high schools, Antara reported.
The students are part of a student exchange program organized
jointly by the governments of Surabaya and Osaka. Deputy Governor
of East Java Soeprapto and an official of Osaka, Shike Kaku,
discussed the plan yesterday.
Soeprapto did not specify when the program will start, but
said it will be organized in such a way as to ensure a great
opportunity for the Japanese students to be immersed in the local
culture.
Since 1983 the two cities have launched programs of mutual
cooperation in the fields of cultures, technology and scientific
development and agriculture. (swe)
