Original Pilates opens branch

Pilates Bodyworks of Singapore, which is the only pilates studio in Asia certified by the Pilates center in the United States, opened its first franchised branch at Bimasena Club in South Jakarta last week.

Pilates Bodyworks founding director Alvin Giam, who has learned pilates from a direct student of the late founder Joseph Pilates, said the exercises could heal several ailments and diseases, such as stroke and back pain.

"Many pilates studios here were founded by people, my clients, who joined my class in Singapore for just a short time. They are not trained for teaching pilates," Giam said.

Providing skilled teachers, Pilates Bodyworks offers a special discount on the fees which range from Rp 1.5 million (for the administration fee) to Rp 27 million (a complete 35 sessions) for clients.
