Supervision of transportation services is essential given the increased mobility of the public ahead of Eid. Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ombudsman Republic of Indonesia (ORI) is monitoring services during the 2026 CE/1447 Hijriah Eid homecoming flow at Gambir Station in Jakarta and Poris Plawad Terminal in Banten on Saturday (14/3). ORI member Hery Susanto stated that the monitoring is intended to ensure that public services during the homecoming period, which runs from H-10 to H+8 relative to Eid, operate optimally and free from maladministration. “Supervision of transportation services is important considering the increased mobility of the public ahead of Eid,” Hery said when confirmed in Jakarta on Friday. He added that the Ombudsman wants to ensure that the organisation of public services during the homecoming runs well and in accordance with service standards. It was mentioned that this supervision is crucial so that the public receives safe, comfortable transportation services free from maladministration. During monitoring at Poris Plawad Terminal in Tangerang, the Ombudsman team checked the ramp check process or road inspections by Ministry of Transportation officers on several bus fleets that will serve homecoming trips to various areas in Central Java and East Java. Hery said that this inspection aims to ensure the vehicle’s roadworthiness before departure. Meanwhile, at Gambir Station in Jakarta, the Ombudsman team monitored passenger services and checked train fleets, one of which is the Brawijaya Train bound for Malang. In addition to monitoring transportation modes, ORI also checked the availability of service facilities and infrastructure, such as homecoming posts, health clinics, toilet facilities, ticket services, as well as information and complaint facilities for the public. He explained that the results of this monitoring will be compiled and submitted to relevant stakeholders as material for evaluation and Ombudsman policy recommendations to improve the quality of public services in the transportation sector. “The findings from this monitoring will be submitted to relevant stakeholders as evaluation material and suggestions for improvements to enhance the quality of transportation services to the public,” he said. Homecoming flow monitoring is also being carried out simultaneously by all Ombudsman representatives in 34 provinces as part of efforts to supervise public services during the Eid homecoming period. In addition, this supervision is also part of the series of events commemorating the 26th Anniversary of the Ombudsman RI with the theme of Impactful Supervision, Quality Public Services. On the same occasion, the Ombudsman team also distributed takjil to homecomers. The activity was also used as a means of socialisation and education to the public about the duties and functions of the Ombudsman RI, including the mechanism for submitting reports related to public services through the distribution of information brochures, which was enthusiastically welcomed by the public.
