JAKARTA - The Chairman of the 2026 Labour Day Committee at the National Monument (Monas), Andi Gani Nena Wea, has revealed an attempt by infiltrators to disrupt the 2026 Labour Day commemoration.

Andi Gani stated that upon receiving this information last week, the committee immediately increased vigilance by forming internal task forces within each labour organisation.

“I received this information a week ago, so we have tightened internal security among workers by involving special task forces from each confederation. This way, we can quickly detect any infiltration,” said Andi Gani in a press release on Saturday (2/5/2026).

Andi Gani also requested that the police take firm action against the group attempting to disrupt the event.

This is because the Labour Day commemoration at Monas on Friday (1/5/2026) was attended by 400,000 workers from various regions and President Prabowo Subianto.

“One can imagine if a trigger for unrest enters an event with such a large crowd; it would certainly be very dangerous,” he said.

Regarding the riot incident that occurred in Bandung, Andi Gani emphasised that the black-clad group involved was not from the labour community.

He requested that local police take firm and uncompromising action against the rioters.
