Organic Waste Processing Site from Denpasar Heavily Guarded in Klungkung
The organic waste processing site in the Embung Tukad Unda area, Gunaksa Village, Dawan Sub-District, Klungkung, Bali, is now under tight security. The area has been guarded for four days since the Bali Provincial Government sent shredded organic waste or composting materials from Denpasar.
Dawan Sub-District Head I Dewa Gede Widiantara confirmed the activity of processing organic waste into compost at the site. In terms of territorial jurisdiction, he stated that monitoring continues to be carried out.
“So far, we have gathered information from the mass media and also coordinated with the Klungkung Environment and Land Agency (DLHP). Based on that information, we are conducting territorial monitoring, which is our responsibility. This is to prevent any unwanted incidents,” Widiantara told detikBali on Wednesday (15/4/2026).
Widiantara revealed that the shipment of waste from Denpasar to Klungkung, which circulated in the mass media, was once questioned by the Gunaksa Village Head. He admitted to having provided explanations regarding the management of the shredded organic waste or composting materials in the area.
“Of course, it is our responsibility to convey information to the residents. In addition, we are continuing to monitor while awaiting official instructions from the leadership,” he added.
detikBali’s observation at the site showed several Bali Provincial DKLH officers on standby awaiting the arrival of trucks from Denpasar. A guarding officer who declined to be named explained that the guarding is carried out from 08:00 to 16:00 WITA. Once the activity is finished, the gate will be tightly closed.
Since the first day of shipment of shredded organic waste from Denpasar, the number of arriving trucks has varied. The highest was 35 trucks on the second day, followed by 9 trucks on the third day.
