Orderkuota platform exposes fraudulent 'customer service' scams
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The quota transaction and digital payment platform, Orderkuota, has exposed a new fraudulent method involving fake customer service (CS) representatives impersonating the application to profit from the public.
“Based on internal findings, these cybercriminals are executing a structured modus operandi by manipulating fake customer service contact information through Google search engines and social media,” said Orderkuota’s Legal Team, Aprillya, in Jakarta on Saturday.
She clarified the information and revealed the patterns of the scam to prevent the public from becoming victims.
Aprillya explained that the most dominant method currently is the exploitation of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO Spam) and the hacking of content on official government websites with .go.id domains or village websites.
According to her, perpetrators intentionally plant articles containing fake WhatsApp CS numbers on these high-authority sites so that they appear on the first page of Google searches. Subsequently, these manipulated search engine links are spread across various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube through video content or comments featuring narratives of instant assistance.
“The perpetrators specifically exploit the panic and urgency of users experiencing transaction issues. The primary narrative they sell is a guarantee of instant resolution and super-fast service without queues,” she said.
She added that when panicked victims connect to these fake WhatsApp numbers, the perpetrators pretend to be technical staff. “The perpetrators then ask victims to transfer a certain amount of money under the pretext of administration fees, system verification, or security deposits, while also attempting to steal sensitive data such as OTP codes, PINs, and account passwords,” she said.
Orderkuota emphasised that official Orderkuota CS services do not operate via WhatsApp channels, except for the delivery of official OTP codes from Orderkuota. “We emphasise that any WhatsApp numbers circulating on the internet claiming to be Orderkuota customer service are one hundred per cent fake and are indicative of fraud,” she asserted.
She explained that all legitimate complaint and technical assistance services can only be accessed through verified official channels, including the main feature via interactive live chat directly within the official Orderkuota application, Telegram channels, the official website, and official social media.
Orderkuota also adheres to the fundamental principle that official CS services will never request balance transfer fees or solicit confidential data such as OTP codes, PINs, and user account passwords in any form.
Orderkuota regularly submits requests for the blocking and removal (takedown) of content to Google, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook to act against links or manipulative accounts impersonating the company.
On the other hand, internal application security continues to be strengthened through multi-factor authentication, industry-standard data exchange encryption, and restricted access from suspicious devices to maintain the integrity of user balances.
Management is optimistic that these massive educational efforts and digital enforcement measures can narrow the scope of fraudulent activities and maintain a safe digital transaction environment.
