Optimising RDF to Improve Waste Management Effectiveness in Jakarta
Jakarta – Indonesia’s Deputy Environment Minister Diaz Faisal Malik Hendropriyono has stated that optimising Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) technology is a strategic step to enhance the effectiveness of waste management in Jakarta.
“Through this technology, the volume of waste accumulation can be significantly reduced whilst supporting the creation of a cleaner, healthier and more liveable environment for the public,” he said in Jakarta on Sunday.
His office held a Waste Management Launch Ceremony at RDF Rorotan on Saturday (28 February), demonstrating a shared commitment to strengthening integrated and sustainable waste management systems.
According to Hendropriyono, collaboration between central and local government is the key to successful integrated waste management. “With strong synergy, we can realise a clean, orderly and empowered region,” he stated.
This demonstrates strong cross-sectoral commitment to achieving sustainable waste management. “RDF Rorotan is expected to become an exemplary modern waste management area in North Jakarta that is clean, orderly and beneficial for the environment and community,” he said.
Earlier, Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq stated that optimising RDF facilities represents a sustainable waste treatment solution for North Jakarta and greater Jakarta. “The optimisation of RDF facilities is important in sustainable waste management,” he said during a cleanliness activity roll call for the Indonesia ASRI Movement at the Nizam Zachman Fish Harbour Office Yard in North Jakarta on Tuesday (17 February).
According to Nurofiq, support from the military and police forms part of the national mandate to accelerate waste management across all regions. He stated that the Indonesia ASRI Movement symbolises the synergy between central government, local government, the military and police in accelerating waste management.
Nurofiq emphasised that the cleanliness movement represents a direct presidential mandate through the Indonesia Asri Movement. “We stress the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration to create a clean and healthy environment,” he said.
