Optimising All Trans-Sumatra Toll Facilities for Lebaran Return Flow
Throughout the Lebaran return flow period in 2026, PT Hakaaston (HKA) has strengthened its operational focus on the smooth running of transactions and service quality across all toll road sections it manages. As the operator, HKA ensures that every aspect of service, from toll booth functions to the readiness of patrol teams, is in prime condition to prevent travel disruptions for the public.
This effort represents HKA’s tangible commitment to accompanying the journeys of returnees crossing vital points on all managed toll sections. HKA recognises that the comfort of road users is determined by the alertness of officers in responding to situations on the route and the reliability of supporting facilities. Therefore, intensive coordination in every operational area continues to be enhanced to ensure that vehicle flows remain smooth, allowing the public to enjoy a pleasant homecoming experience.
Acting President Director of HKA, M. Rozi Rinjayadi, emphasised his team’s commitment to escorting public mobility during this mudik and return flow period. HKA’s primary task is to be the main supporter of smooth travel through real-time traffic data monitoring to accurately map busy locations.
“This step enables the swift deployment of additional personnel and Mobile Reader units, with the main focus on ensuring that services on the lanes and gates do not become obstacles, to provide comfort for returnees so they can arrive safely at their destinations,” said Rozi on Saturday (28/3).
He explained that his side continues to stay vigilant and conduct periodic service evaluations across all managed sections. Based on the latest operational data monitoring, this readiness has successfully anticipated trends of rising vehicle volume (VLL) in four main areas.
Among them, in the North Sumatra region, specifically on the Medan-Binjai Toll Road (Medbin), HKA recorded a fairly dynamic surge at the Stabat Toll Gate on 23 March, with an increase in entering vehicles of around 120% from normal conditions. This situation was anticipated by maximising gate operations to maintain smoothness, especially during peak load hours.
Extra vigilance was also carried out in the Central Sumatra region, particularly on the Pekanbaru-XIII Koto Kampar section. At the Sungai Pinang Toll Gate on 25 March, HKA’s on-site team promptly prepared additional personnel support to speed up transaction processes (tapping) amid the trend of increasing outgoing vehicle volumes towards the Pekanbaru area.
Meanwhile, in the South Sumatra region, crucial access on the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar (Bakter) section via the Itera Kotabaru Toll Gate recorded an 86% increase in outgoing vehicles on 24 March. Considering this point is the main gate for vehicles from the port direction, the readiness of officers is the key to ensuring stable flow towards Palembang.
In the Jabodetabek region, on the JORR-S toll road, HKA continues to maintain the reliability of transaction equipment amid high vehicle volume loads. At the Cilandak Utama 2 Toll Gate on 21 March, a 5% volume increase still demands extra readiness because the number of vehicles served reaches thousands in a matter of hours, so personnel precision and safety facility readiness remain the top priority at all times.
“We are committed to continuing to prepare operational services and personnel across all sections until the 2026 Lebaran operational period ends, to guarantee a safe travel experience for all road users,” he concluded.
