Optimisation of Train Operations for Eid Transport: Four Hydraulic Locomotives Prepared
Entering the Eid transport period for 1447 H, KAI Logistik (Kalog) is once again collaborating with its parent company, PT KAI, to support the optimisation of train operations. This synergy is realised through the dispatch of four hydraulic locomotive units to bolster the readiness of passenger train operational facilities during the period of increased public mobility.
VP of Corporate Secretary at KAI Logistik, Dwi Wulandari, stated yesterday that the trust given by the parent company is a continuation of previous collaborations in the programme to maximise inter-island assets. Previously, the company had successfully mobilised 12 locomotives from Sumatra to Java to support operational needs.
“With this additional fleet, the readiness of facilities in the Java operational region is expected to be even more optimal in facing the surge in public mobility during the Eid transport period,” she explained.
According to Dwi, the locomotive dispatch process was carried out through Kalog Pro services in the Project Logistics segment, which has special capabilities in handling logistics needs categorised as heavy cargo. In this dispatch phase, the company mobilised two BB203 series locomotives and two BB303 series locomotives, with a total weight of 232 tonnes. The entire handling process was conducted with strict operational standards, from loading to securing the units during transit.
“The locomotive distribution began on 28 February 2026 and was carried out via an integrated multimodal route from Belawan Station in Division I North Sumatra to JICT Station in the Daop 1 Jakarta region. The entire dispatch process was completed on 9 March, faster than the set target, thanks to the implementation of optimal and efficient operational work patterns at every stage,” she clarified.
INTEGRATE TRANSPORT MODES
As a company holding a Multimodal Transport Business Entity (BUAM) permit, Kalog is capable of integrating various transport modes in the inter-regional logistics distribution process. This integration ensures that the movement of locomotives from origin to destination runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal technical obstacles.
“The type of locomotives dispatched are diesel hydraulic locomotives known for their high operational flexibility in supporting various train travel needs. With these characteristics, the locomotives are expected to further strengthen the reliability of rail facilities in supporting the smooth operation of passenger trains,” she added.
Through this step, Dwi continued, the company reaffirms its commitment to supporting the sustainable reliability of national rail transport operations. Synergy within the KAI Group is expected to maintain smooth train services during the Eid transport period, while ensuring public travel proceeds safely, comfortably, and on time.
