Optical Pole Collapses in West Jakarta, Suspected Due to Corrosion and Overloading

The commander of the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) DKI Jakarta’s West Jakarta Regional Coordinator Unit, Maulana Syahroni, stated that the collapse of the optical pole on Jalan Mangga Besar Raya, RT 015 RW 01, Tangki, Tamansari, West Jakarta, was suspected to be caused by its corroded condition and excessive cable load. “The suspected cause is that the optical cable pole is already corroded due to the accumulated cable load,” said Maulana when confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday, quoted from Antara. “The affected objects are the optical cables and the road section,” he added. Nevertheless, he assured that there were no casualties in the incident that occurred on Sunday afternoon (12/4/2026). “(Casualties) None,” Maulana emphasised. After receiving the report of the incident at 15:48 WIB, his team immediately responded by heading to the location.
