General Chairman of the National Student Admission Selection Committee (SNPMB) Eduart Wolo stated that the committee may add sessions for the 2026 Computer-Based Written Exam for National Selection Based on Tests (UTBK-SNBT) in UTBK cities or regions. Additional sessions will be implemented when the UTBK hosting areas are full with registrants.

“We could add sessions in cities with high interest,” Eduart said during a press conference at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology office in Jakarta on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

Eduart explained that this year’s exam participants cannot choose the UTBK-hosting campus. However, participants can select the city or region for the exam. The committee will then determine the UTBK-hosting location for the registrants.

He gave an example: a participant from Gorontalo can still take the test at a campus in Gorontalo. However, they cannot choose the UTBK-hosting campus.

The committee will announce the UTBK location ten days before the written exam takes place. According to Eduart, this change in the written exam location mechanism is to anticipate cheating like that in the previous year’s student admission test. The committee’s findings at that time revealed many anomalous cheating methods from registration to implementation. “There were also test proxies,” Eduart said.

Eduart claimed that the selection committee is not trying to hinder participants’ rights to attend university. “We are actually creating a fair system,” he said.

Registration for UTBK-SNBT 2026 officially opened on 25 March 2026 and will close on 7 April 2026. Registration is conducted through the official SNPMB portal.

Before registering, participants are required to have a permanent SNPMB account, then pay a registration fee of Rp 200,000 per person. Registrants can choose up to 4 study programmes. The written exam will be held from 21-30 April 2026.

Previously, the selection committee prepared several solutions for prospective UTBK-SNBT 2026 participants who find their chosen exam city or region appearing full during registration. SNPMB team member Rizky Yanuar said that such a condition does not necessarily mean the quota at that location is exhausted. Therefore, participants are advised not to rush to change their exam location choice.

As an initial step, participants are recommended to confirm seat availability information through the official SNPMB channels and contact the registration service centre.

“Please contact the SNPMB service centre to confirm whether the quota is indeed full, not yet open, or will still have its capacity increased,” Rizky said during the online socialisation of UTBK-SNBT 2026 registration, quoted from the official SNPMB YouTube, on Monday, 30 March 2026.

In addition, he said, participants still have the opportunity to change their exam city choice or study programme as long as they have not paid the UTBK fee. The mechanism allows participants to wait for the payment slip to expire within 2 x 24 hours. “As long as it hasn’t been paid, the choice can still be changed. But if it has been paid, it cannot be changed anymore,” Rizky said.

The UTBK registration system at the beginning of the period is still dynamic, so seat availability in a region can change at any time. This provides an opportunity for participants to maintain their location choice without needing to switch immediately.

Nevertheless, Rizky said, this flexibility generally only applies to participants who register at the beginning of the period. Participants registering near the closing date have more limited time to wait for the payment slip to expire.

The committee also ensures that exam location placements remain within the selected region. Participants will not be placed far from the chosen city.
