Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chinese electronics company Oppo is reportedly developing a smartphone with a wide-screen, candybar-style design for its Reno X series.

According to a report by GSM Arena on Tuesday, the design follows a trend towards devices with unusual screen ratios, which has drawn fresh attention following the launch of the Huawei Pura X.

Information about the device is still based on leaks, although some of its key specifications have begun to circulate.

The Oppo Reno X is said to feature a flat 6.35-inch display with a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate.

This wide-screen concept offers a different approach amid a modern smartphone market dominated by devices with elongated displays.

For performance, the Reno X is reportedly set to use a MediaTek Dimensity 9000-series chipset, although the specific variant is not yet known.

The device is also said to have a camera system featuring a 200-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS).

Alongside the main camera, it is reportedly equipped with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.

If accurate, the Reno X’s camera configuration could be one of its main attractions in the mid-range segment.

The smartphone is reportedly built with a metal frame. Oppo is also said to be equipping it with a 7,000mAh battery.

The Reno X has attracted attention because it is expected to sit within Oppo’s Reno line, traditionally known as the company’s mid-range series, rather than its flagship Find range.

Oppo has yet to provide official information about the Reno X, including its launch date, price or intended markets. The specifications currently in circulation remain rumours and await confirmation from the company.
