OPM Protests TNI Use of Super Tucano Aircraft, Here is the Commander's Response
The Free Papua Organisation (OPM) has protested the steps taken by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in deploying Super Tucano aircraft to strike their bases. In a statement by the OPM that went viral on social media, they requested that the TNI refrain from deploying fighter jets or drones, arguing that such deployment creates an imbalance in combat.
TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto stated that the TNI will continue to eradicate all members of the OPM. Although he did not explicitly confirm whether the TNI used Super Tucano aircraft to attack OPM bases, Agus emphasised that his forces are tasked with eliminating armed groups that frequently kill civilians.
“Separatists must be suppressed; there must be no separatists in our country,” said Agus, accompanied by Deputy Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Muhammad Saleh Mustafa at Aldiron Field, Pancoran, South Jakarta, on Sunday (27/09/2026).
