A member of the Free Papua Organisation (OPM) named Sergeant Alfons Sorri was killed following a shootout with TNI soldiers. The shootout between Alfons and the security forces took place in Sori Village, South Aifat District, Maybrat, on Sunday (22/3). “According to the information stated by them (OPM), it is indeed true. The information we received from below is as such (Sergeant Alfons Sorri was killed),” said the Head of Information for the XVIII/Kasuari Military Region, Lieutenant Colonel Infantry J Daniel P Manalu. However, Daniel dismissed rumours that Alfons’s body is being held by TNI personnel. Nevertheless, he said he would only confirm the location of Alfons’s body later. “So if anyone says the body is still being held by the TNI, that is not true. Why would it be held,” he stressed.
