Operators report 3,440 passengers arrive in Jakarta via Pulo Gebang Terminal
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Operators of the Pulo Gebang Integrated Terminal (TTPG) in East Jakarta state that 3,440 passengers and 487 buses have been recorded arriving at the terminal up to midday on Thursday (26/3). This figure represents the cumulative arrivals from 00:00 to 12:00 WIB, with passenger inflows expected to continue increasing until evening. “At present, on 26 March, 487 buses have arrived, carrying 3,440 passengers. They are still arriving in the arrival area,” said Commander of the Pulo Gebang Integrated Terminal Squad, Badman Harahap, when met in Jakarta on Thursday. He noted that this number indicates an increase compared to the previous day, with 4,340 passengers and 626 buses recorded on Wednesday (25/3). According to him, the return flow trend is strengthening, with the midday figure already approaching 4,000 passengers. “It’s getting busier. From 00:00 to 12:00 WIB, it has exceeded 3,000, nearly 4,000 passengers,” he said. Badman estimated that the number of passengers arriving at Pulo Gebang Terminal on Thursday will increase to 5,000 to 6,000 by midnight. Furthermore, he predicted that the peak of the return flow will occur over the weekend, specifically on 28-29 March, coinciding with the resumption of office and school activities in DKI Jakarta on 30 March. “The prediction is that the peak will be on 28-29 (March), because on 30 (March) activities in DKI will start again,” he said. In addition to the regular return flow, Pulo Gebang Terminal will also receive arrivals of free mudik programme (mutis) participants in the near future, which is expected to add to the density in the arrival area. Regarding terminal facilities, Badman stated there are no significant additions compared to the previous year. However, he assured that all services remain optimally operational, from accommodation and 24-hour health services to children’s play areas. To support smooth passenger flow, the terminal operators have deployed around 85 combined personnel daily, comprising police, military, and Satpol PP elements. Additionally, coordination with onward transport services such as TransJakarta has been strengthened, including 24-hour operations to serve passengers arriving from evening until early morning. Badman emphasised that so far, there have been no significant obstacles during the Eid al-Fitr mudik and return period at Pulo Gebang Terminal. Various anticipatory measures have also been implemented to ease congestion, including waiting areas equipped with air conditioning and other facilities. “The preparations are thorough, so there have been no issues so far,” he said.
