Operations of 350 MBG Kitchens in West Java Halted — Why?
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has conducted a comprehensive evaluation by suspending operations of MBG kitchens or Nutritional Service Delivery Units (SPPG). Hundreds of SPPG units in West Java have also had their operations halted.
According to reporting on Thursday, 12 March 2026, the evaluation conducted by the National Nutrition Agency resulted in the decision to temporarily suspend operations of 1,512 SPPG units across various regions. This action was taken as part of a review process to ensure compliance with operational standards and the adequacy of infrastructure and facilities at each food preparation kitchen.
Of this total, approximately 350 SPPG units are located in West Java. The evaluation was conducted because a number of kitchens were found not to have met several basic requirements, including possession of a Health and Sanitation Compliance Certificate (SLHS) and the presence of Wastewater Treatment Facilities (IPAL).
Additionally, residential facilities for kitchen managers comprising the Head of SPPG, Nutrition Supervisor, and Finance Supervisor had not yet been constructed despite completion of the initial 30-day operational period.
Linda Al Amin, Chair of the MBG Task Force in West Java, explained that the decision to suspend operations rests entirely with the National Nutrition Agency. Meanwhile, regional task forces play a key role in monitoring health and food safety standards.
“We are only ensuring whether they have obtained SLHS certification from the district or city health office. That is what we continue to monitor, but regarding the revocation or issuance of operational permits, that is entirely within the authority of BGN,” said Linda.
