Operations at Burangkeng Landfill Resume Normally After Fuel Shortage
Operations of heavy equipment for waste management at the Burangkeng Final Disposal Site (TPA), Setu Subdistrict, Bekasi Regency, have resumed normally after being temporarily halted due to fuel (BBM) constraints. The normalisation of operations has enabled hundreds of garbage transport trucks, previously held up, to unload their loads again. “Operations have been running normally since Saturday, 25 April, and are proceeding as usual,” stated the spokesperson for the Bekasi Regency Environmental Agency (DLH), Dedi Kurniawan, when contacted by Kompas.com via message on Sunday (26/4/2026). Nevertheless, Dedi reminded garbage truck drivers to remain orderly when unloading. “We urge vehicles disposing of waste to comply and discipline themselves by following the queue,” Dedi said. Previously reported, 22 units of heavy equipment at TPA Burangkeng stopped operating due to a surge in BBM prices, particularly Pertamina Dex, which has risen significantly in recent times. This condition directly impacted the waste processing process as the heavy equipment could not be used to level and manage waste piles. Based on data from the Bekasi Regency DLH, out of around 700 daily waste transport trips, approximately 300 to 500 trucks could not operate normally during the disruption. For information, TPA Burangkeng is the final disposal site serving the entire Bekasi Regency area. This facility accommodates waste from 23 subdistricts and 187 villages.
