Operations at Bekasi Timur Station Return to Normal Following Collision Incident
KAI Commuter has revealed that Cikarang Commuter Line services are gradually returning to normal after being disrupted by a collision incident involving the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek train and a KRL Commuter Line train on Monday (27/4). Passenger numbers at the station are also steadily increasing.
VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, stated that the rail track normalisation process is ongoing and showing positive developments. Passenger boarding and alighting services at the station have resumed serving users since the trial KRL journey on Wednesday afternoon (29/4).
However, KAI is still limiting the speed of all train journeys at the location. Despite this, station activities and user movements on the Commuter Line are running normally.
“Passenger volume at Bekasi Timur Station is also gradually returning to normal and even continuing to increase after the station resumed serving boarding and alighting,” Karina said in a written statement on Sunday (3/5).
According to KAI Commuter data, on Wednesday (29/4) from 14:00 WIB until the last schedule, the passenger volume at Bekasi Timur Station reached 5,266 boarding and 2,820 alighting.
On Thursday (30/4), it was recorded that 8,188 people boarded and 9,268 alighted at the station.
“Meanwhile, at the start of this long holiday period, on Friday (1/5), the passenger volume reached 14,000. With 6,590 boarding and 7,527 alighting,” Karina added.
“On Saturday (2/5), the boarding passenger volume was 8,412 and 9,275 alighting at Bekasi Timur Station,” she continued.
The operational condition of Cikarang Commuter Line journeys is also continuously improving. Starting from Thursday, the number of Cikarang Commuter Line services returned to normal with 281 journeys operated daily on the Cikarang line. On-time performance is also steadily improving.
Journey delays are also continuously decreasing. On Thursday (30/4), the average departure delay was 25 minutes, and on Friday (1/5), it decreased to 15 minutes.
Then, on Saturday (2/5), the average departure delay for Cikarang Commuter Line journeys decreased further to 9-10 minutes as the rail track normalisation process continues.
“This trend shows the normalisation of public mobility relying on the Commuter Line at Bekasi Timur Station,” Karina explained.
“Moreover, the Commuter Line has become a necessity for public mobility with various needs. Especially for work,” she added.
KAI Commuter once again apologises for the incident and appreciates the patience of users during the evacuation and recovery period. KAI also urges passengers not to force their way into full trains.
