Operational Hours of Purwomartani Functional Toll Road Extended until 10:00 PM WIB
The operational hours of the functional Purwomartani-Prambanan toll road section have been extended until 10:00 PM WIB. This extension of functional hours aims to reduce traffic density on arterial routes.
Yogyakarta Police Chief Irjen Anggoro Sukartono stated that the policy is being implemented from today. “Starting today, we are increasing and extending its use from 6:00 AM WIB until 10:00 PM WIB,” Anggoro told reporters on Tuesday (24/3/2026).
Anggoro said the existence of the Purwomartani toll gate helps direct vehicles entering the Special Region of Yogyakarta to surrounding areas.
“This is very helpful because up to today, 67,000 vehicles have exited through Purwomartani,” he said.
He predicted that the peak return flow would occur today. However, he still observed traffic density in urban areas.
“If we look at the prediction for today, but we see the developing situation, the calculation is still ongoing,” he said.
To that end, his side is collaborating with Jasamarga to complete facilities at the Purwomartani toll gate. “Starting today, we are working with Jasamarga; infrastructure is being equipped. Such as these lighting lamps, which make it easier for us to anticipate routes that have previously caused congestion,” he said.
PT Jasamarga Jogja-Solo’s public relations officer, Rachmat, explained that the extension decision is to reduce traffic density on arterial routes.
“The information I received earlier is that there was indeed an instruction from the National Police Chief via video conference with the Yogyakarta Police Chief requesting standby at Purwomartani until 10:00 PM to reduce density on the arterial route on the Solo-Yogyakarta road,” Rachmat said.
Regarding subsequent days, his side is still awaiting decisions from the police. “Considering tomorrow will enter workdays, we will coordinate again with the police,” he stated.
He explained that today, the flow of vehicles entering the Purwomartani toll gate is higher compared to previous days. “For Purwomartani, it is experiencing a slight surge (in vehicle volume),” he said.
He advised road users to be careful while passing through the functional route. Additionally, he asked drivers to comply with speed limits.
detikJogja’s observation at the Purwomartani toll gate until 7:00 PM WIB showed that the incoming vehicle flow on the toll road remains busy but smooth. Based on the latest data until 6:00 PM WIB, vehicles entering through the Purwomartani toll gate reached nearly 17,000 vehicles.
It is known that this functional toll road will continue to operate until 29 March to serve the Lebaran 2026 return flow.
