MADIUN - Madiun Customs has once again demonstrated its commitment to eradicating the circulation of illegal cigarettes. On Friday (27/3/2026), Madiun Customs took action against an attempt to transport 120,000 illegal cigarette sticks in a bus in the Pilangkenceng Subdistrict area, Madiun Regency.

The enforcement occurred while officers were conducting land patrols in toll road areas and passenger bus transit points. During the activity, officers stopped and inspected a passenger bus, discovering cargo consisting of machine-made kretek cigarette (SKM) brands without excise stamps.

Head of the Internal Compliance and Outreach Section of Madiun Customs, Nur Fatichah Soekranhadi, stated that the enforcement took place around Titin Restaurant, Jl Ahmad Yani, Jetak Village, Pilangkenceng Subdistrict, Madiun Regency. From the results of the enforcement, Customs seized 120,000 illegal cigarette sticks with an estimated value of Rp 178,200,000 and potential state losses of Rp 116,113,800.

“Following the discovery, all seized goods were then brought to the Madiun Customs Office for further examination,” she said.

She emphasised that this enforcement serves as evidence of Madiun Customs’ commitment to protecting the public and safeguarding state revenue from the excise sector.

“We also urge the public not to buy or circulate illegal cigarettes as it harms the state and violates the law,” she added.
