Operation Ketupat: Thousand Islands Police Department Ensures Safe Exodus and Tourism
The Thousand Islands Police Department (Polres Kepulauan Seribu) held a force deployment ceremony for Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026 to prepare for security measures during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H celebrations. The police ensure the safety of returning travellers and nature tourism across the islands.
The ceremony was held in the morning, led directly by Thousand Islands Police Chief AKBP Argadija Putra alongside Thousand Islands Military District Commander Captain Arh Hamzah, and Government and Public Welfare Assistant (Aspemkesra) of Thousand Islands Regency, Purnomo.
In his remarks, the Police Chief stated that the force deployment ceremony represented the readiness of all security elements in providing a sense of safety and comfort to the community during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
“Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026 is a manifestation of the Indonesian National Police commitment together with the Armed Forces, Local Government and all stakeholders in providing maximum security to the community celebrating Eid al-Fitr, including the activities of residents and tourists in the Thousand Islands region,” said AKBP Argadija Putra on Thursday (12 March 2026).
He also emphasised to all personnel involved to carry out their duties with full responsibility, enhance inter-agency coordination, and provide the best service to the community.
“Through the coordination of all elements involved, we hope that the law and order situation in the Thousand Islands region during the Eid al-Fitr celebration will run safely, smoothly and conducively,” he added.
In implementing Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026, the Thousand Islands Police Department established five security posts spread across Untung Jawa Island, Tidung Island, Pari Island, Panggang Island, and Harapan Island. Each security post will be staffed by 13 personnel led by a post commander. Security focus covers not only residents undertaking the exodus but also tourist attractions.
Overall, the security operations of Ketupat Jaya 2026 in the Thousand Islands region involve a combined force of 201 personnel consisting of 65 Indonesian National Police personnel, 10 Armed Forces personnel, 44 Civil Police personnel, 15 health office personnel, 24 transport office personnel, 12 fire department personnel, and 31 Early Warning Community Forum members.
The activity was attended by senior officials of the Thousand Islands Police Department, including the Deputy Police Chief, Operations Chief, Personnel and Resources Chiefs, various department heads, and police personnel. Also present were Armed Forces personnel from the North Jakarta Military District Command and Thousand Islands Military Sub-District, as well as village liaison officers.
Furthermore, the ceremony was also attended by various relevant stakeholders such as representatives from the Thousand Islands Regency Government, the Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency, Coastal and Small Islands Agency, Transport Office, Health Office, Culture and Tourism Office, as well as village heads from the regions of Untung Jawa Island, Pari Island, Tidung Island, Panggang Island, Harapan Island, and Kelapa Island.
