Operation Ketupat 2026 Officially Closed, Traffic Corps Chief: Vehicle Volume Increase of 4.62%

Semarang, VIVA – Indonesian Police have officially closed Operation Ketupat 2026, the security operation for the Eid al-Fitr homecoming period that lasted 13 days, from Friday, 13 March 2026, to Wednesday, 25 March 2026. “Last night (Wednesday, 25 March 2026), at 24.00 WIB, based on the directive from the National Police Chief, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Operation Ketupat has been closed,” said the Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, in Semarang, Central Java, on Thursday, 26 March 2026. After the end of Operation Ketupat 2026, said Inspector General Agus, the police will carry out enhanced routine activities (KRYD). Thus, personnel will remain in the field to anticipate security and public order situations (harkamtibmas), including the second peak return flow that will take place on 28-29 March 2026. The two-star general stated that during Operation Ketupat 2026, the vehicle volume during the peak homecoming flow was recorded as the highest in history, at 270,315 vehicles. “Compared to last year 2025, there was an increase of 4.62 percent. Last year, there were 258,512 vehicles,” he said. Despite the increase in vehicle numbers, traffic flow proceeded in a controlled manner thanks to the implementation of traffic engineering, one of which was the national one-way system during the peak homecoming and peak return flows. “The traffic engineering management strategy, including parameters for implementing the national one-way and even local one-way in segments of stage one or precision local one-way, this can split the flow so that we can manage it well; the homecoming flow has been passed,” he said. In addition, he mentioned that during the implementation of Operation Ketupat, the fatality rate of traffic accident victims decreased by 30.89 percent and the number of accidents decreased by 5.75 percent compared to 2025.
