Operation Ketupat 2026 is not merely an annual routine agenda but a grand national event to escort the mudik tradition of millions of Indonesians. Under the command of Korlantas Polri and cross-sectoral synergy, Operation Ketupat 2026 recorded a new history in technology- and data-based traffic flow management. Bearing the tagline “Safe Mudik, Happy Family,” Polri successfully anticipated the mobility of more than 143 million people by optimising the KM29 Command Centre, which monitors vehicle movements in real-time through integration of CCTV, digital traffic counting, and drone surveillance. The success of Operation Ketupat is the fruit of high-level coordination within the government apparatus. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), emphasised that the traffic management for Operation Ketupat 2026 operated under strict supervision. “Overall, it remains under tight control and monitoring, so our spirit to deliver a safe, smooth, and secure mudik flow can truly be maintained,” stated AHY. In line with AHY, Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi expressed his appreciation for the excellent collaboration on the ground. “Alhamdulillah, thanks to very good coordination with Korlantas, insya Allah there were no disruptions on the roads or even upon arrival here at the ports,” added Dudy. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo also highlighted the stability of the situation during this crucial period, affirming that the mudik and return flows were very well maintained. Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho stated that this year’s mudik and return flows recorded the highest peak in history, yet remained controlled. “The highest mudik flow in history to date, with 270,315 vehicles leaving Jakarta in one day—this is the highest and most numerous peak mudik flow in history and it has been well managed,” said Agus. “The return flow is also the highest in history at 256,338 vehicles; the mudik peak saw an increase of 4.62%. Last year 250,000 vehicles, this year 270,000 for the mudik flow. Last year’s peak was 223,000 vehicles, this year 256,000 vehicles, and this is extraordinary,” he added.
