Operation in Kampung Bahari: 'Fat Boss' Arrested, Other Kingpins Targeted

The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) carried out a raid in Kampung Bahari, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. One major dealer has been arrested, while other drug kingpins in the area are now in the authorities’ sights.

According to detikcom on Sunday (16/8/2026), the operation took place on Thursday (13/8). Officers initially arrested a man with the initials MR, known as Fat Boss, who is one of the drug dealers in Kampung Bahari.

“Initially we arrested the boss around Kampung Bahari, then we brought him inside for further investigation,” said BNN Director of Enforcement and Pursuit, Brigadier General Roy Hardy Siahaan.

Officers then took MR to Kampung Bahari to conduct further investigation and to show the places where he and his network stored drugs. When officers entered, MR’s loyalists attacked them.

A number of people threw firecrackers at the officers. However, the resistance proved futile as officers managed to repel the crowd and arrest several of MR’s loyalists.

BNN revealed that MR, or Fat Boss, arrested in the Kampung Bahari operation, was a fugitive who had been sought since 2025. MR had been involved in a drug case in November 2025 before eventually disappearing from the authorities’ pursuit.

“One of the drug kingpins is a fugitive related to a drug case on 7 November 2025 under the name MR or Fat Boss,” said BNN Director of Enforcement and Pursuit, Brigadier General Roy Hardy Siahaan.

Roy Hardy said MR was a fugitive in a case involving possession of 98 kilograms of methamphetamine uncovered by BNN in November 2025. In the Kampung Bahari operation, MR was arrested along with two of his loyalists.

Officers also managed to seize a number of pieces of evidence in the operation. The evidence ranged from marijuana, firearms, to luxury cars.

“Evidence of narcotics in the form of marijuana or gorilla on the left. Then evidence of money, then firearms, there is a samurai sword, several bullets, mobile phones, other assets, including in front of colleagues there are two cars,” said Roy Hardy.

The evidence was displayed at a press conference. A luxury BMW and a Vespa scooter were also put on display. Officers apprehended MR at a beauty clinic before eventually taking him to Kampung Bahari.

“The BMW was seized when we arrested MR at a beauty clinic or beauty salon in Mangga Besar. Meanwhile, the other two were secured around the crime scene with evidence including a Vespa and a car,” he said.

BNN said MR is a long-time player in the drug business. He is known as a drug supplier operating across provinces.

“If we talk about MR’s network, it is inter-provincial,” said Roy Hardy.

Roy said his team is still hunting other perpetrators in Fat Boss’s network. The suspects who remain at large are believed to have brought drugs from other provinces to the Kampung Bahari area.

“Because there are several perpetrators who brought goods to Kampung Bahari from other provinces and we are pursuing them, we continue to develop the case regarding several other perpetrators who are indicated to be working together with suspect MR,” he said.

Regarding the two loyalists also arrested during the raid, Roy said they are still under examination. BNN is still investigating their connection to Fat Boss.

“So far we will examine them again. Because based on the crime scene at the time we carried out the operation, when examined, we will process the investigation and later convey the relationship between Fat Boss or MR,” he said.

After successfully arresting Fat Boss, BNN confirmed that the drug investigation in Kampung Bahari is not over. BNN revealed that there are still major drug dealers in the area who are currently in the authorities’ sights.

“In addition to searching Fat Boss’s house, the team also searched the houses of major Kampung Bahari dealers, namely Arif alias Lopes and Kimmul. Based on information, they all possess firearms,” said Roy.

“So this morning’s activity was a search of Fat Boss’s house because based on Fat Boss’s statement, at his house there is still 1 kilogram of methamphetamine, ecstasy, vape, cash, and a Glock firearm,” he added.

Roy said the major dealers in Kampung Bahari have prepared themselves by purchasing illegal weapons to fight officers. They have also mobilised loyalists to resist the authorities.
