Operating Licences of Two Entertainment Venues in West Jakarta Revoked; Analyst Warns of Potential for Business Name Changes
Jakarta, Kompas.com – Trubus Rahadiansyah, a public policy analyst from Trisakti University, has reminded the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Department (Disparekraf) about the potential for loopholes in the supervision of entertainment venues in Jakarta.
This statement comes after Disparekraf revoked the operating licences of two entertainment venues in West Jakarta, namely B-Fashion and The Seven, which were implicated in a suspected drug trafficking case.
“And they shouldn’t be allowed to simply re-register under a different name; sometimes it’s the same people, they just change the name of the company. It’s like changing clothes. That’s how these entertainment venues operate,” said Trubus to Kompas.com on Friday (15/5/2026).
“If they just change clothes, will they be allowed to operate again, and will they be issued a new licence? That’s the issue, so it’s important to know who the people involved are and what their connections are,” he said.
Trubus believes that the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Department (Disparekraf) needs to thoroughly investigate the ownership structure of these businesses to prevent any loopholes in the use of licences.
He emphasised that data on company ownership can actually be traced from the beginning.
“That’s why Disparekraf needs to investigate properly, and not just turn a blind eye. If they do that, it will be problematic. In reality, they should already know who owns these companies, and that data can be checked,” he said.
“It needs to be done consistently so that it is not discriminatory,” he said.
Trubus believes that supervision has been weak so far, which has created opportunities for repeated violations in the entertainment sector.
“Indeed, it has been weak; it has always been weak, and it allows for new things to happen,” he said.
Previously, the Jakarta Provincial Government revoked the operating licences of two entertainment venues, B-Fashion and The Seven, in West Jakarta, which were raided in connection with suspected drug trafficking on Saturday (9/5/2026).
The Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Department, Andhika Permata, stated that there is no tolerance for businesses that are proven to be involved in or allow illegal activities.
“The revocation of the operating licence is a form of firmness in maintaining a safe, orderly, and quality tourism ecosystem. We want to ensure that all tourism businesses in Jakarta are a comfortable and safe space for the community and tourists,” said Andhika in his official statement on Friday (15/5/2026).
