Opening Sulut Provincial Musrenbang, Home Affairs Minister Urges Local Governments to Seize National Priority Programmes
Home Affairs Minister (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian officially opened the Musyawarah Perencanaan Pembangunan (Musrenbang) for the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) of North Sulawesi Province for 2027. The event took place at the Mapalus Building, Office of the Governor of North Sulawesi, on Thursday (9/4/2026). In his address, Tito urged the heads of regions across North Sulawesi to seize the central government’s priority programmes. According to data from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), North Sulawesi is a region with medium fiscal capacity, meaning a relatively balanced financial condition between local own-source revenue (PAD) and transfers to regions (TKD). Therefore, local governments (pemda) are encouraged to optimise the utilisation of central programmes, which are deemed to provide direct benefits to the community. He added that several other programmes that can be utilised by local governments include food security, Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), Red and White Village/Ward Cooperatives, People’s Schools, and Garuda Excellent Schools. In addition, there are school rehabilitation programmes, Free Health Checks (CKG), fishing villages and national clove programmes, as well as various other priority programmes. Tito explained that the utilisation of these programmes not only impacts community welfare but also serves as a form of regional creativity in increasing PAD. He gave an example that local governments can support the construction of 3 million houses through accelerating permits, one of which is by providing Public Service Malls (MPP). For information, the event was also attended by the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, North Sulawesi Governor Yulius Selvanus, members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of North Sulawesi Province, regents/mayors across North Sulawesi, and other related parties.
