OpenClaw Launches iOS and Android Apps, Bringing AI Agents to Mobile Phones

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The OpenClaw artificial intelligence (AI) project has officially launched a standalone application for iOS and Android devices, enabling users to download the AI agent through the App Store and Play Store.

According to a report from Engadget on Tuesday (30/6) local time, the application allows users to interact with the AI assistant via mobile phones through features such as chatting, monitoring ongoing AI tasks, and providing approvals for actions to be executed by the AI.

Furthermore, users can grant the AI agent access to various device features, including the camera, screen, location, photos, contacts, calendar, and reminders.

OpenClaw, which began as a small-scale AI project, is currently managed as an open-source project by a foundation after its founder, Peter Steinberger, joined OpenAI earlier this year.

Upon the announcement of Steinberger’s recruitment, OpenAI also stated it would provide support to the organisation, although it did not specify the form of support to be provided.

The launch of the OpenClaw application also represents a significant development for AI agent technology, which has faced specific challenges within the Apple ecosystem due to stricter application review processes.

Apple was previously reported to have rejected several AI agent applications due to security concerns, particularly regarding the development of AI-based software.

As a result of these restrictions, iPhone users previously had to utilise third-party messaging applications such as Telegram or WhatsApp to interact with their AI agents.
