OpenAI reports ChatGPT weekly active users surpass 900 million

Jakarta (ANTARA) - OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT’s weekly active user base has reached 900 million, whilst the company records 50 million paying customers for its premium service.

According to Tech Crunch on Sunday, the artificial intelligence technology development company stated that its paid customer growth has increased significantly since the start of the year.

January and February have been cited as the periods with the largest new customer additions in the company’s history.

“Customer growth momentum increased significantly at the start of the year, with January and February, which are still ongoing, becoming the months with the largest new customer additions in our history,” OpenAI stated.

The figure of 900 million weekly active users represents an increase of 100 million compared to the October 2025 report, which recorded 800 million users.

The announcement came alongside news that OpenAI has successfully secured private funding worth $110 billion USD, equivalent to Rp1.83 quadrillion, which is described as one of the largest funding rounds in the history of a private company.

The new funding includes a $50 billion USD investment (Rp840 trillion) from Amazon, as well as $30 billion USD (Rp504 trillion) each from Nvidia and SoftBank, with a pre-funding valuation reaching $730 billion USD (Rp12.27 quadrillion). This funding round remains open and the company anticipates that other investors will participate.
