OpenAI Plans to Create Super App, Featuring ChatGPT and More!
OpenAI is preparing to unite several of its products into one integrated desktop application or “super app”. This application will integrate OpenAI’s browser, ChatGPT, and the coding application Codex. This step is aimed at simplifying the user experience while eliminating the fragmentation of services that have previously been separate. This transformation is led by Fidji Simo as CEO of Applications, with support from OpenAI President Greg Brockman. Simo emphasised that the company is now entering a phase of focus after previously aggressively experimenting. “However, when new bets start to show results, as we are seeing now with Codex, it is very important to double down on them and avoid distractions. We are very excited to capitalise on this momentum,” Simo stated on her X account, quoted from CNBC International, Tuesday (24/3/2026). Since launching ChatGPT in 2022, OpenAI has skyrocketed to become one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the world. In recent months, the company has continued to release new products to maintain its edge amid fierce competition with Google and Anthropic. On the other hand, this product consolidation move is also seen as part of preparations towards an initial public offering (IPO). OpenAI is reportedly strengthening its business focus under Simo’s leadership, who previously served as CEO of Instacart.
