Open University Surabaya produces 1,532 adaptive graduates through open education
Surabaya (ANTARA) - Universitas Terbuka (UT) Surabaya has produced 1,532 adaptive graduates in the even semester of 2025/2026 through a flexible open and distance learning system to prepare superior human resources for the world of work.
Director of UT Surabaya Prof Dr Suparti, in Surabaya on Sunday, emphasised that UT graduates have advantages in adaptation and independent learning.
“UT graduates are not only academically prepared but also able to adapt, create, and make a real impact on society,” she said.
This graduation is part of a total of 2,453 yudisium participants at UT Surabaya, based on the Rector’s Decree recording 2,476 graduates (Decree Number 2638 of 2025) and 98 graduates (Decree Number 2121 of 2025), with 121 other graduates attending the ceremony at UT Central.
As many as 1,532 graduates attended the graduation ceremony in Surabaya directly, accompanied by 3,064 family members, reflecting high enthusiasm and support for higher education.
Secretary of Universitas Terbuka Dr Kurnia Endah Riana emphasised that graduation is not the end of the learning process.
She also added that UT is open to all Indonesians who wish to enhance their competencies.
“We are always open to anyone who wants to learn and develop themselves through higher education at Universitas Terbuka,” she said.
On the same occasion, Director of UT Vocational School Dr Mohamad Yunus revealed plans to develop more applied vocational education with a target opening in May 2027.
“The initial programmes to be opened include Digital Business Accounting, Information Technology, and Logistics Management. Vocational learning will be dominated by practice up to 60–70 percent so that graduates are truly work-ready,” he said.
According to him, UT’s vocational system will combine field practice, structured guidance, and online practicums to ensure graduate competencies meet industry needs.
