Open University Strengthens Quality Evaluation and Governance through 2026 Management Review Meeting
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA — Open University is strengthening quality evaluation and governance through the 2026 Management Review Meeting (RTM). This forum was held to ensure that the quality of education remains consistent amid rapid changes in the higher education sector.
The evaluation was conducted to close the gap between policies and their implementation in the field. The event, which took place from 13–16 April 2026 in Surabaya, was attended by 259 participants from central to regional leadership ranks. The forum discussed academic and non-academic performance achievements, as well as reviewing the results of internal quality assessments and risk management.
Secretary of Open University, Kurnia Endah Riana, stated that the RTM serves as a strategic evaluation space to ensure the effectiveness of governance. She emphasised the importance of consistency between policies and their execution in the field in building academic reputation.
In the forum, discussions focused on four main aspects, namely governance, academic quality, distance learning services, and outreach. Discussions were held to identify operational constraints and formulate data-based recommendations.
Open University also presented external perspectives, including from the Corruption Eradication Commission, to strengthen integrity aspects. The material presented emphasised the importance of transparent and accountable governance in the education system.
Rector of Open University, Ali Muktiyanto, stated that this forum is a momentum to strengthen the position of the higher education institution as a provider of distance education. He assessed that comprehensive evaluation is necessary so that the institution can adapt to technological developments and societal needs.
According to him, the wide reach of Open University is the main asset to expand access to education. Therefore, strengthening the digital learning ecosystem is deemed important so that services remain equitable up to the outermost regions.
Open University views the RTM not only as an annual evaluation agenda but also as the basis for future policy-making. This step is expected to support improvements in education quality and expand access for the community.
