Open Iftar at Sumber Barokah Islamic Boarding School Strengthens Community Ties Among Muslims in Karawang

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KARAWANG — The head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) along with Forkomimda district officials, religious leaders, community figures, and the students of Sumber Barokah Pesantren Karawang, held an iftar gathering.

Held at Sumber Barokah Pesantren Karawang, the Bukber, which was accompanied by donations to orphans and the poor in the surrounding area around the pesantren on Friday (6 March 2026) received appreciation and support from Forkopimda and local religious leaders.

Present were the Head of the Karawang Regency Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dr KH Sopian, accompanied by the head of the office and their staff; also present were the Secretary General of MUI Karawang Drs KH Asep Najaruddin, the Head of Kesbangpol, a representative of Polres Karawang, and the Muspika leadership.

Also present were the Chair of Muhammadiyah Karawang, the Chair of NU Karawang, the Leaders of the Pondok Pesantren PP Miftahul Jannah, PP Al-Ridwan, PP Al-Mujarin, and other community figures.

In his opening remarks, the leader of Sumber Barokah Pesantren, Mustaghfirin, stated that during each Ramadan, Sumber Barokah Pesantren distributes aid to orphans and the poor from the surrounding community, reaching hundreds of residents.

“There are around 500 packages of staple foods and some pocket money every Ramadan that we distribute to those who deserve it, so they can also feel what we feel during this Ramadan which is full of blessings,” Mustaghfirin said.

This activity, the head of Sumber Barokah Pondok said, is a momentum to strengthen silaturahim while also fostering social care for others, especially orphans and the poor.

With the aim of alleviating their burdens and helping our brothers and sisters to joyfully welcome Ramadan 1447 H which is undoubtedly full of mercy and blessings and likely full of forgiveness from Allah SWT.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Karawang Regency Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, in his remarks, praised what has been done by Sumber Barokah Pesantren.

Kemenag Karawang highly appreciates Sumber Barokah Pesantren, which every year regularly conducts charitable activities for orphans and the poor.

“I am incredibly proud of Sumber Barokah Pesantren, this shows that the pesantren and Indonesia’s Islamic missionary institutions are truly open to the community, and therefore we will continue to move forward, continue to uphold ukhuwah Islamiyah and silaturahim this as well as possible,” he said.

In line with the Head of Kemenag, Kasi PD Pontren Dadang Hamidi, in his remarks hopes that Sumber Barokah Pesantren will continue to move, become even more advanced, and carry out activities such as these.

The event then closed with a religious sermon by the Secretary General of MUI Karawang, KH Asep Najaruddin, followed by prayers and a cordial buka puasa gathering.
