Open Conflict in the Middle East: Prabowo Ready to Travel to Tehran if Conflicting Parties Approve
Jakarta — The Indonesian government has called upon all parties to exercise restraint, prioritising dialogue and diplomacy regarding the escalating conflict in the Middle East. Indonesia has stated its readiness to facilitate negotiations between the United States and Iran to ease tensions in the region.
“Indonesia reiterates the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of every nation and resolving differences through peaceful means,” according to a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) issued via its official X account on Saturday.
Indonesia has expressed its willingness to facilitate dialogue to restore security and conducive conditions in the region. “Should both parties consent, the President of Indonesia is prepared to travel to Tehran to conduct mediation,” the MoFA statement noted.
The MoFA assessed that heightened tensions in the Middle East could potentially disrupt regional stability as well as global peace and security, underscoring the necessity of prioritising diplomatic efforts.
The MoFA also appealed to Indonesian citizens in affected areas to remain calm and vigilant, follow instructions from local authorities, and maintain communication with the nearest Indonesian diplomatic mission.
