Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The internet monitoring service Ookla has just been acquired for US$1.2 billion, or Rp20 trillion. The new owner is an Irish technology consultancy, Accenture.

“Using Ookla’s products to collect data that will help clients across business and government scale AI safely,” said Accenture CEO Julie Sweet, quoted by The Verge on Friday, 6 March 2026.

The acquisition is awaiting regulatory approval. Once obtained, Accenture will use Ookla data to assist cloud service providers and large-scale AI companies.

However, Ookla’s business will continue to operate as before. In an interview with Ars Technica, Accenture assured that the service’s business will continue operating as it is today.

Ookla CEO Stephen Bye said the acquisition would allow the company to develop its data networking business and also create a better-connected experience.
