Investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have conducted searches at two homes belonging to the Chairman of the PDIP West Java Regional Board (DPD), Ono Surono, in Indramayu Regency on Thursday (2/4/2026). The searches relate to the investigation of a corruption case involving the pre-payment of a project at the Bekasi Regency Government, which implicates the inactive Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara Kunang (ADK).

The first search was carried out at Ono’s home in Bandung City on Wednesday (1/4/2026). Subsequently, the search took place at Ono’s home in Indramayu Regency on Thursday. In response to the searches, Ono’s lawyer, who is also the Head of PDIP’s West Java BBHAR, Sahali, expressed regret over the KPK’s actions, which he said were not in accordance with the rules.

“The search at Kang Ono’s home in Indramayu—once again, the KPK investigators arrived without bringing a search warrant from the local district court chief, as stipulated in the New Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) Article 114 paragraph 1,” Sahali stated in a press release to Republika in Indramayu on Friday (3/4/2026).

According to Sahali, during the search at Ono’s home in Indramayu Regency, the investigative team also seized items unrelated to the case. The evidence seized included a 2010 notebook, the PDIP Congress book from 2015, and one damaged Samsung mobile phone.

“This seizure clearly violates the New Criminal Procedure Code, Article 113 paragraph 3, which states that ‘In conducting a search, investigators may only examine and/or seize evidence related to the criminal offence’,” Sahali said.

He also criticised the unprofessional attitude of the KPK investigators. Sahali claimed that the KPK investigators framed the situation as if they had seized many items by bringing suitcases. “In fact, they only took two personal agenda books and a party book and one damaged Samsung phone from the house in Indramayu,” Sahali said.

He explained that during the search in Bandung City, the investigators insisted on seizing Rp 50 million belonging to the family and Rp 200 million from many people participating in an arisan (savings group) from Ono’s wife. Even though proof from the WhatsApp group arisan was shown to the investigators regarding the money belonging to many people, Sahali said, it was still not heeded.

“Regarding the arbitrary actions of the KPK investigators, we will take legal action as per our legal rights, namely reporting to the KPK’s Ethics Council,” Sahali stated.
