Ono Surono Denies Receiving Corrupt Funds
Bandung, VIVA – Deputy Chairman of the West Java DPRD, Ono Surono, has emphasised that no bribe funds from the project entered his personal pocket or his party’s accounts, following searches by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at his residences in Bandung and Indramayu. Ono stressed that the searches relate to the investigation of the alleged project kickback case implicating the inactive Bekasi Regent, Ade Kuswara Kunang. Although his name has been linked, this Chairman of the West Java PDI Perjuangan DPD has chosen to remain cooperative with the legal process. “From the beginning until now, I have consistently stated that no funds have flowed to the party or to me,” Ono told reporters at the Pakuan Building in Bandung on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. Ono urged all parties to view the facts clearly in the trial, including the prosecutor’s indictment in the Bekasi project bribery case. “Friends have heard and seen the indictment from Mr Sarjan (the private sector suspect). Is my name there? Is it? That’s it,” he said. Regarding the seizure of a sum of money by anti-corruption investigators at his Bandung residence, Ono referred to his legal team’s explanation. He affirmed that the money has a clear source and is not the result of corruption. “It’s already been explained by my legal counsel that the money is from my wife’s arisan savings, that’s how it is,” Ono stated. To date, Ono has assured that he continues to respect all law enforcement procedures carried out by the KPK and is awaiting the outcome of the ongoing trial. “The point is, I truly respect the legal process conducted by the KPK. Of course, as a good citizen, one must respect it, and we will see how it goes,” he added. The trial of this alleged project kickback bribery case is currently attracting attention at the Corruption Court because it involves several officials and private parties in the Bekasi Regency Government environment.
