Jakarta — Jakarta’s Department of Public Works, Spatial Planning and Land Affairs (Citata) has disclosed that only two padel courts in Jakarta possess a Certificate of Functional Feasibility (SLF).

“Almost all facilities lack the certificate; to my knowledge, only two have it as of yesterday in Central Jakarta. The others have not obtained it,” said Vera Revina Sari, Head of Citata, during the sealing of a padel court in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Monday.

Sari explained that most padel courts in Jakarta currently lack the necessary certification. This figure contrasts sharply with recent data indicating approximately 444 padel courts operate throughout the city.

“So there are 444 without SLF. A few might be in the process of applying,” she stated.

Consequently, the Jakarta Provincial Government has declared that padel courts without SLF must close or cease operations. Prior to building use and obtaining SLF, facility owners must first secure Building Approval (PBG). The standard PBG approval process typically requires approximately 28 days.

Sari outlined that one significant factor prolonging the licensing process involves multiple stages of design review meetings and document revisions by applicants. “For instance, there must be meetings to discuss the design plans. After the meeting concludes, there are revisions required, but if the applicant fails to make those revisions, the process cannot proceed,” she explained.

South Jakarta Administration has recorded 209 padel courts in its jurisdiction. Of these, 105 units hold valid permits, whilst 104 units lack permits, and 120 padel courts have been subjected to enforcement action.
