Only Bridge Collapses in Pandeglang, Cutting Off Village Access
A connecting bridge between villages in Kampung Tarikolot, Tunggaljaya Village, Sumur District, Pandeglang Regency, has collapsed. The bridge gave way after being crossed by a sand transport truck.
“The bridge collapsed after a dump truck carrying sand passed over it,” said Tunggaljaya Village Secretary Andi Suandi on Tuesday (23/6/2026).
Andi stated the incident occurred this morning. He noted the bridge was already in a severely damaged state prior to the collapse.
“Initially, the bridge was already heavily damaged because it has not been rebuilt for nearly decades,” he said.
Andi explained that the village administration had previously reported the bridge’s condition. However, construction of a new bridge has yet to be carried out.
“We have already submitted the proposal to the sub-district level, and then to the district level, but there has been no confirmation from the relevant parties,” he stated.
Andi said the bridge serves as the link between Ujung Jaya, Cigorondong, and Taman Jaya villages. According to him, residents’ access is now completely cut off as there is no other bridge.
“That’s correct (they are isolated) because there is no other bridge besides that one,” he said.
Andi expressed hope that the district government will promptly provide a temporary solution. He fears that residents’ mobility in the village will be paralysed.
“We will submit a request to the district authorities to build an alternative bridge before the permanent one is constructed,” he said.
