Only 575 of 4,635 Nutrition Units in Central Java Hold Halal Certification, 715 Lack Hygiene Certificates

A total of 715 nutrition fulfilment service units (SPPG) currently operating in Central Java Province do not yet possess a Sanitation Hygiene Eligibility Certificate (SLHS). This came to light when Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin chaired a coordination meeting on the implementation and supply chain of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme at the Central Java Provincial Government office on Friday (12/6/2026).

Yasin revealed that the number of SPPG in Central Java has now reached 4,635 units. However, only 4,060 SPPG are currently operational. He stated that, in accordance with the President’s instructions, every established SPPG must meet strict requirements and be certified. This forms part of the food safety assurance for the MBG menus that are prepared and served. Yasin explained that one of the requirements and certifications that SPPG must fulfil is the SLHS. In this context, he highlighted the fact that some SPPG still lack an SLHS.

“Regarding food safety certification for SPPG in Central Java, only 3,345 out of 4,060 have obtained the SLHS. This means there are still some that do not yet have an SLHS,” Yasin disclosed.

Furthermore, Yasin noted that the number of certified chefs in Central Java’s SPPG also remains low. “This figure is still at 1,310 spread across Central Java. That means the number has not yet reached 50 percent; it is around 30 percent who have fulfilled the chef certification,” he said.
