Only 4 of 22 Soldiers Dismissed in Fatal Abuse Case of Prada Lucky

Based on the Supreme Court ruling, only four of the 22 convicted soldiers have been dismissed from the Indonesian Army, according to the legal counsel for Prada Lucky’s family, Akhmad Bumi. The four dismissed soldiers are Sertu Andre Mahoklory, Pratu Emeliano de Araujo, Pratu Petrus Nong Brian Semi, and Pratu Aprianto Rede Radja, while the other 18 remain in service. All 22 soldiers from the 834/Wakanga Mere Territorial Development Infantry Battalion in Nagekeo, East Nusa Tenggara, were found legally and convincingly guilty of military crimes and sentenced to prison.

Under Supreme Court ruling number 172 K/Mil/2026, defendant First Lieutenant Ahmad Faisal, who was the company commander at the time of the incident, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment and ordered to pay restitution of over Rp 561 million. However, he did not receive the additional penalty of dismissal from military service. In ruling number 165 K/Mil/2026, defendant Ahmad Ahda and three other soldiers also received two-year prison sentences, but only Emiliano De Araujo, Petrus Nong Brian Semi, and Apriyanto Reda Radja were given the additional penalty of dismissal, while Pratu Ahmad Ahda was not. These four defendants were also ordered to pay restitution of over Rp 136 million each.

A further Supreme Court ruling, number 171 K/Mil/2026, sentenced Sertu Thomas Desamburi Awi and 16 other defendants to two years in prison, with each ordered to pay restitution of Rp 32,036,768.82. Among these 17 defendants, only Andre Mahoklory received the additional penalty of dismissal, while the other 16 retained their active military status. The family’s legal counsel, Akhmad Bumi, stated that the ruling raises questions about the basis for differentiating the additional penalties and noted an anomaly in the Supreme Court’s considerations, particularly regarding the application of dismissal from military service.
