Only 3 Units Sold This Year, Is the Hyundai Venue Still Being Sold in Indonesia?
JAKARTA – The fate of the Hyundai Venue in the Indonesian market is quite unique. Despite very low sales, this model is still maintained by PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) as part of the company’s strategy in the SUV segment. The Hyundai Venue was first introduced at the IIMS 2025 and briefly attracted attention. However, its sales performance did not meet market expectations. Based on Gaikindo wholesales data, from February to December 2025, Venue sales only reached 33 units. Even throughout 2026 so far, the figure has only increased by 3 units. “We have stated that we want to have the most complete SUV line-up. So we are not targeting sales volume. We want to show that Hyundai has a complete SUV range, which aligns with our global strategy,” said Frans in Jakarta (16/4/2026). This strategy demonstrates that Hyundai aims to offer a comprehensive SUV portfolio, following their diverse global lineup. Fransiscus also emphasised that despite the small volume, the Venue remains important for the dealer network. Even the sold units are considered highly valuable in maintaining profitability. Interestingly, Hyundai does not offer discounts for this model, indicating that the Venue’s positioning is still upheld, not sold through aggressive pricing strategies. This latest statement signals that Hyundai is preparing further steps for their SUV line, including possible updates or new strategies for the Venue. Considering the evolving market trends, it is not impossible for the Venue to receive a product refresh to make it more relevant to Indonesian consumer needs.
