Online Taxi Driver Who Harassed Passenger Has Been Using Meth Since November 2025 After Being Sacked
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Wendy Arie Harjanto, an online taxi driver who harassed a female passenger with initials SKD (20), has been consuming the narcotic methamphetamine since November 2025.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation for the Protection of Women and Children and Human Trafficking (PPA-PPO) of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Rita Wulandari, stated that the perpetrator began using drugs after being sacked from his job.
“So after being dismissed from work, he became frustrated and then turned to drug use as an escape,” Rita explained during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya headquarters on Monday (6/4/2026).
According to Rita, the use of narcotics has the potential to affect the perpetrator’s psychological condition.
“It has the potential to influence the perpetrator’s psychological state, self-control, and boldness in committing illegal acts,” Rita clarified.
Currently, investigators from Ditres PPA-PPO are still coordinating with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation for Narcotics of Polda Metro Jaya regarding allegations of narcotics abuse by Wendy.
Wendy was arrested on Wednesday (1/4/2026) in Depok, West Java, along with several pieces of evidence.
Among them were the perpetrator’s mobile phone, three packets of contraceptive devices in the form of condoms, two packets of stamina pills, and one package of methamphetamine consumption tools with remnants of 32 small clips of methamphetamine. The vehicle used during the harassment incident was also seized.
He faces a maximum prison sentence of nine years and/or a fine of up to Rp 50 million.
It was previously reported that a woman became a victim of sexual harassment while riding in an online taxi. The case previously went viral on social media on Friday (27/3/2026).
Based on the victim’s statement, the incident occurred on 14 March 2026 around 15:40 WIB during a trip from Gambir Station to a hotel in Jakarta.
“From the start, the driver often engaged in small talk. It seemed like as it went on, the questions became more and more inappropriate,” the victim told Kompas.com.
The victim said she began to feel uncomfortable and eventually recorded the situation inside the car.
During the journey, the driver allegedly stopped the trip status in the app and drove the car to a quiet road.
The victim stated that the driver suddenly moved to the back seat, restrained her, and demanded her phone password with threats of shooting if she did not comply.
At the time of the incident, nearby residents approached the car after hearing the commotion.
“In the end, I was protected by the building security guard in the area,” the victim said.
